Nanna Ditzel:

Nanna Ditzel, known as the 'Queen of Danish Design', was a rare female figure amongst the leading names of Scandinavian design. Her designs spanned several disciplines from textiles to tableware, furniture to jewellery and were applauded for being ‘in tune with the needs and thinking of young moderns’, according to design commentator, Eileen Harrison Beer. Alongside her husband, Jørgen, they designed acclaimed and ground breaking children's furniture and a much lauded collection for Georg Jensen. The Danish Ministry of Culture produced a film about her and her designs and she remains heavily cited as an important influence on Denmark’s continuing design mastery. Her pre-eminence is supported by her inclusion in major museum collections including Designmuseum, Danmark, and the British Museum, London.
