About the Designer

The designs of Niels Otto Møller are becoming increasingly popular, especially those featuring the quintessential Danish Modern use of papercord. Møller was born in Ârhus in 1920 and earned his design skills at the city's School of Design following a cabinetmaking apprenticeship. He founded his own workshop, JL Møllers Mobelfabrik, in his hometown in 1944, however, due to the strength of demand from Germany and the US, the company expanding to a larger factory in nearby Højbjerg. In 1981, JL Møllers was awarded the Dansk MøbelIndustri's Furniture Prize, with special mention for its "ability to combine the best craft traditions with modern furniture manufacture".
